“To empower individuals to champion their own rights through non-judgemental, unbiased advocacy, bridging communication barriers so that community voice is heard.”
TEMHCO
As part of our community connections, I dropped into Top End Mental Health Consumer Organisation’s Support, Sip & Share morning tea today, firstly as an introduction and secondly to share and show support.
TEMHCO reminds me of what the Northern Territory community is all about, its community values and how we deliver care to those around us.
I look forward to helping organisations such as Top End Mental Health Consumers Organisation support our community and continue to provide much valued support and help amplify their voices.
The Top End Mental Health Consumers Organisation Incorporated (TEMHCO) is a not-for-profit organisation located in Palmerston, Northern Territory. We provide a safe place for people living with low to moderate mental health challenges to access practical support and connection. We continue to advocate for improvements within the mental health system, guided by available data, resource sharing across jurisdictions, and lived experience.
TEMHCO’s drop-in service is open to all community members seeking informal information about community services, referral pathways, local events, and opportunities to connect with other community groups.
The drop-in service provides a relaxed, welcoming space where people can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and have a chat. It allows individuals to share their stories and receive non-clinical, peer-led support and guidance in a safe, supportive environment.
