About Craig Hubbard

Craig is the founder of AdvocateNT, supporting issues affecting older Territorians. With a background in business and information technology consulting across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, he has worked in sectors including health, policing, manufacturing and software engineering. A Northern Territory community member for more than 20 years, Craig is actively involved in advocacy focused on elder abuse, mobility issues and the experiences of older people remaining in the workforce. He is committed to ensuring lived experience voices are heard in policy development and community responses, often engaging directly with seniors through informal conversations and community gatherings.

AdvocateNT is a public facing local advocacy supporting a wide range of issues impacting older person in the Northern Territory, I am happy to attend Seniors Morning Teas in the Darwin\Palmerston region to have informal chats about AdvocacyNT, Local Issues and what is Elder Abuse Action Australia including workplace abuse that seniors may unfortunately encounter.

What is AdvocateNT?

Advocate Northern Territory

A local voice in the Northern Territory for issues affecting older Territorians, and a SPARK member of EAAA. Highlights local efforts and connects with other support services.

Advocate Northern Territory has a special interest in workplace abuse and is collecting case studies that related to “lived experiences” of those who have suffered or are suffering from abuse in employment.

What is Elder Abuse Action Australia?

A peak national organisation focused on eliminating abuse of older people.

Works on advocacy, policy, best practices, and education.

Offers resources for individuals and organisations to prevent and respond to abuse.

EAAA provides a national framework, while AdvocateNT implements and promotes it in the NT.

We collaborate to ensure older Australians, especially those in the NT, have the support and resources to live free from harm, covering financial, physical, psychological, and other forms of abuse.

Purpose: The EAAA SPARK network, focuses on strengthening advocacy and support, especially for older people in remote areas.

Role in Advocacy: SPARK representatives like Craig Hubbard often engage in direct, on–ground advocacy, such as visiting various services to support older people.

Focus Areas: EAAA focuses on preventing abuse, educating the public, and providing resources to combat elder abuse, with 2026 conference themes like “Stand Up, Speak Out”.

AdvocateNT extends this advocacy through lived experience to include workplace abuse that impacts older workers.

In summary, AdvocateNT represents a local presence working with a national movement (EAAA) to protect older people from abuse in Australia, especially in the Northern Territory.
